Kolibree Bluetooth Toothbrush is an excellent choice for making the time for teeth brushing exciting and more enjoyable for kids. This is my Kolibree Bluetooth Toothbrush Review – The Best Family & Kids Toothbrush!

“Our research indicates that plaque removal is almost twice as efficient for children using Kolibree than for those using a regular electric toothbrush. Kolibree is simply the best Bluetooth™ connected toothbrush available today”

I take dental health very seriously because I am a family dentist and also a mother of 2 adorable children. I am sure many people will relate to the challenges faced when we have to convince our children to practice proper dental hygiene which includes brushing the teeth twice a day. As a caring mother, I have to constantly come up with smart answers to counter the multiple objections to brushing their teeth twice a day. You can imagine my delight in discovering this app that can make this phase of verbal challenge about brushing the teeth go away for good. I discovered that by using this device, I could make teeth brushing a happy moment for the children.

Kolibree is actively involved in carrying out innovative experiments to devise ways through which our lives can be made better with more value added – by using better technology. Conscious efforts to improve the efficiency of technology in a bid to increase the potential value for users of these innovations – is a mission that company always has in view during their research studies. Acknowledging the huge costs it will take to manage and correct dental anomalies, kolibree has stepped up as one of the pioneers of innovative new technology to make teeth brushing a pleasant experience for everyone.

The goals of this company will not be achieved without the right feedback from the public about using the products it is designing. In 2013, a research study was organized by Kolibree to find out the perception of a sample size of 200 children about the regular brushing experience. The results indicated that a majority of children never look forward to the time they have to brush their teeth and they will prefer doing something else. Other discovery indicated that 1 out of 5 Americans do not brush their teeth twice a day and regular teeth brushing only cleans about 30% of the entire teeth surface. Many people will find these reports very alarming, I am not surprised because as a mother, I know the struggle I go through getting my children to brush their teeth twice a day. That is not all, we also know that brushing commonly covers only 30% of the teeth; this means for someone like me that brushes twice daily, how confident am I that I reach as much as 30% during both brushing sessions? This is where I found the app and the device to be really useful, it is available on the IOS and android platforms, and with it I can monitor the extent to which my teeth has been cleaned and my general brushing habits.

Notably the first of its kind, this electric toothbrush has 3D sensors to track every motion made with the hands, other features like the sonic vibration, various options for the heads make brushing the teeth fun and easier. With this app, you can effectively monitor if more than 30% of your teeth are cleaned by tracking how long you spend brushing the four quadrants in the mouth.

My first experience with this product

I was particularly impressed by the packaging of this product, it was as if the designers knew exactly what the users will want to see on the pack and the text was also very direct and easy to understand. It comes with a white packaging with blue used for the text. Inside, you will find the device encased in a suitable plastic covering, you will also find the base charger, and an extra brush head just beside the user manual. As part of my strategy, I made sure this device was unveiled in the presence of my children and they were already thrilled and anxious to give it a trial J

I noticed the user manual had been cleverly translated into five languages. The instructions were clear and simple; there are two modes that can be used while brushing the teeth. The first mode- coach mode, teaches the user how to properly brush the four quadrants when a quadrant has been sufficiently cleaned, a green blinking light will indicate the need to move to another quadrant.

Also, there is a game, on the screen which you will be able to play – Go Pirate. I must say it is a really clever design that might even leave your children amazed when they have to eventually drop the toothbrush. On the screen, the quadrant you are to start cleaning is indicated and as you brush your teeth the pirate moves to and fro collecting the coins, but this is dependent on how well you brush each quadrant. The aim is to collect as many coins as possible to move ahead in the game where more rewards like bonus coins and treasure chests lay waiting for your pirate to collect.

After brushing, the effectiveness of the dental exercise can be checked with the “checkup” button on the screen to see the areas that have not been properly cleaned. This is where I come in to help my children focus on these areas to ensure their teeth are properly cleaned.

I am very happy with the way the device has changed my children perception about brushing their teeth. All I have to do is invite them over for a game of pirate and they are jumping over themselves to win the first position to play. Using the “checkup” feature has been really rewarding, as I can direct my children to the part of their teeth they need to pay more attention to, and I can say my 3-year old have become more confident in brushing his teeth now because of this app, even though I still brush his teeth, I let him practice on his own for about five minutes.

There are specific instructions on the user manual that say the device should not be submerged in water, and care tips are given to protect and clean the tablet. The recommended time for changing a brush head after use is 3 months but is a wonderful thing the new purchase comes with an extra brush head. There are also instructions on how to change the batteries. I think this device is affordable, and I am very happy with the reasonable price tag. My experience with this device has made me realize there are many more ways technology can be used to improve other activities in the house. I will score this device 4.9/5, and is highly recommended for families currently facing the challenges I had with my children when it comes to brushing their teeth. Now they call out to me very early in the morning and last thing at night; for a fun-brushing session!
